Isaac’s Personal Projects For Fun and Profit, Summer 2026
The Lucky You is a summer-y Kalimotxo riff. Kalimotxo, or cheap red wine and cheaper cola, is a classic drink in the Basque region of Spain, and my goal was to retain all of the elements while introducing some herbal complexity.
- 1.5 oz Blanco Tequila
- 0.5 oz Extra Bitter Amaro Ciociaro
- 1 oz red wine cordial
- 12 mint leaves
- Imported Coke
Slap mint. Build all but coke in Pinot/Bordeaux glass, fill with a layer of ice cubes followed by pebble ice packed to the top, then pour 3 oz coke on top. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
Prep:
Wine Cordial:
- 500g red wine (I used a fruit-forward Italian style chilled red from the Sonoma Valley)
- 500g sugar
- 50g Citric Acid
Stir or blend ingredients until combined.
