For a minute there I thought documentary filmmaking would be the way for me to make as many film projects as possible before I graduated college. I had a journalism background and access to cameras, so why couldn’t I shoot a project every quarter? It turns out the creative process doesn’t quite work that way, but at least I ended up with this short documentary. Ava has become a good friend in the years since, and it’s been a real pleasure seeing her come into her own as an artist. This project serves as a time capsule of our freshman year of college – as a way to check in on who we were and what we thought about. I’m proud to share it with the world.
